CC2222 Title Sequences Assignment

For this assignment, we are to create an alternative title sequence for a Malay Film or TV Series of our choice. The video must incorporate a story-line between the elements that sets the context of what the Film or TV Series is about, without giving away important plot points.

For this assignment, I selected the Malaysian TV series 'Waktu Rehat' from the 2010s, which I enjoyed watching as a child. The series revolves around Malaysian lower secondary school students at S.M. Jalan Mas during recess in the school hallway.

In my alternative opening sequence, I maintained a school-themed approach similar to the original sequence, incorporating school supplies like books and pencils, using notebook and crumpled papers as backgrounds, using handwriting-style fonts and designing doodle-like characters.

I drew inspiration from other people's animated title sequences such as Shaun of the Dead and Big Fish, which use minimal movement, silhouettes, and simple graphics without intricate details. Despite this simplicity, these sequences are still enjoyable and engaging for viewers. I aimed to create a sequence appealing to both children and teenagers, considering the show's target audience.

Most of the illustrations were created using Clip Studio Paint, with free assets such as crumpled paper, notebook paper backgrounds and a wooden surface image sourced from Vecteezy. The animation and editing were primarily done in Adobe After Effects to bring the sequence to life.
